From the Partnership Manager -- Donna Martin JULY 2011 This week, we celebrated "Christmas in July" -- a Craft and Vendor Fair to promote The Holiday Project. Thirty vendors signed up to attend. We even had the Chick Fil A "Christmas" Cow as a surprise guest. It was a great success. In addition, vendors donated items for a raffle, and ticket sales will continue for a couple of months. Tis is a great idea for any local area to promote THP and raise funds. See Flyer.

CHAPTER FUNDRAISING: If your area is interested in raising funds and you would like to offer donors the ability to have their contributions be tax-deductible, have them make their checks payable to The Holiday Project and mail to Mel Sedlacek, The Holiday Project Treasurer, 2632 Tartan Drive, Santa Clara CA 95051.
If your area is interested in using the funds locally, a budget needs to be submitted to Mel before expenses are incurred. Then, when reimbursements are requested or bills need to be paid, they should be submitted to Mel with receipts and/or bills.

From the Chair/CEO -- Bobby Anderson OCTOBER 2011
Hello, everyone. Hope this finds you well. Thanks to everyone around the country who works so very hard to make The Holiday Project a success!! We are definitely improving the quality of life for the residents we visit, as well as giving our volunteers an opportunity to experience the true meaning of “You’re the Gift!
As a new visiting season arrives for The Holiday Project, I would like to share a few actions taken by the Board in the last few months.
- We completed our first six-month plan in June and are working on a plan that covers July through December. We conduct monthly conference calls to review progress of the plan and take any corrective actions necessary.
- One of the most important jobs of the Board is to support local Chapters. In this effort, Joanne Sorresse has maintained communication with the Chapters through conference calls and communication with specific individuals. Sally Cooney Anderson updates our website so Chapters are informed of activities. She also posts Best Practices so please submit ideas to her at sallycooneyanderson@yahoo.com
Sharing practices and ideas benefits everyone.
- Donna Martin has been busy working toward establishing partnerships with community groups. These include communities of faith and businesses that promote volunteerism. She is also looking into partnerships with businesses in the senior health care field. As these efforts mature, Donna will share them with Chapters. Donna has also exhibited and made presentations at various trade expositions in the Houston area.
- Donna held a Christmas in July€¯ fundraising event in Houston and is exploring the possibility of extending this opportunity to all Chapters.
- Robin Wiley has been working on some promising social media projects, including a mobile application to connect volunteers with facilities, Facebook, Twitter, and razoo.org for fundraising. These are exciting prospects!
- Melinda Sedlacek has organized our financial picture and takes advantage of any pro bono offers, including tax preparation. We finished the fiscal year with a $464 net surplus.
- Bev Kaye keeps extraordinary minutes of our meetings.
Although brief, I hope this report provides some insight into the work of the Board. Please contact me or any Board member if assistance is needed or you have an idea to share. I look forward to another successful season working together. BACK TO TOP
